Default W/N? good build?

Hey everyone,

Im new to the forrums here and new to Necromancer as a secondary. I had a look around at other W/N builds and i came up with this- i havn't tried it yet but it seems to work in theory. Please leave comments on how i can improve!

Attributes:

Sword mastery: 14 or 16
Death magic: 12
Rest on strength: 3

1. Sever artery (23 secs bleeding)
2. Gash (deep wound)
3. Virulence {E} (poison, disease, weakness)
4. Galgrath slash (support damage)
5. Final thrust (big damage)
6. Sprint/rush (speed boost to catch foes)
7. Plague touch (transfer 1 negative condition to foe)
8. Rez Sig (Rez allies)

USAGE:
Start of with sever artery, followed by gash to cause bleeding and deep wound. Follow with Virulence (this causes poison, disease and weakness to foes already suffering a condition.) Follow up with Galgrath slash. By now you have done a bit of damage and your target is suffering massive health degeneration but should still be easily alive. Keep using Galgrath and final thrust, and if your target isn't dead repeat the Sever>Gash>Virulence proccess. Use Plague touch to get rid of those annoying conditions, Rez sig to rez allies and rush or sprint to catch up to running foes.

WEAKPOINT:
After looking over this I knew that this build relied heavily on condition damage, a monk with remove condition could easily ease the pain in a few seconds causing not as much damage.

Please leave comments and suggestions on how I can make this better before i start farming faction, and eventually, put it to the test!

I'd swap out galrath and final thrust for Standing Slash and Frenzy(pvp)/Flail(pve)(IAS will increase dmg ++), the degen from virulence is as high as a conjure (and u can still use vamp) and causes weakness and sword doesnt need elite so looks pretty good...

I might also consider taking out plague touch for bulls(pvp) or asuran scan/SY!/Brawling headbutt (pve) because thats the monks job anyway.

Well I'm assuming it's Prophecies-only; you've only used Proph skills.

Swords in proph-only builds are meh at best. May as well take an axe or hammer so you can use a good elite ([[Eviscerate] or [[Earth Shaker]). If you insist on keeping the virulence concept, there really isn't much to improve on except that you need an IAS like [[Frenzy] and take [[Rush] over Sprint. Drop the Rez Sig.

Tbh, it's a nice concept, but degen just doesn't kill anything fast enough to be really worth it; you said it yourself, the foe will be 'easily alive' even after applying your 'massive degen'. Better to leave weakness to the Necromancers and the disease and poison (if you even wanted them) to someone else aswell. Don't bother with them.

PS: Superior runes are bad, leave Sword Mastery at 12+1+1.

Without a few more points in Strength you arent going be doing a huge amount of damage, especially seeing as you dont have an IAS, id say replace either final thrust or galraths with Flail.

You don't need quite as much in Death Magic just for one spell. Leave it at 9. This is what I'd suggest:

[build prof=W/N box str=9+1 Death=9 Sword=12+1+1][Sever Artery][gash][Virulence][Galrath Slash][Flail][Sprint][Plague Touch][Resurrection Signet][/build]

I've used a similar build in AB for laughs, and oddly enough, if you can catch someone at the right time, it's a great build, but it is VERY limited.

First off, you have to think, if you are fighting other players, the Disease is going to spread to you, and therefore your Allies. If you *don't* have a way to permanently get rid of the Condition (Plague Touch doesn't work here... if you're close enough to Touch, you're close enough to get Disease) things are going to get messy, it might even cost you the match.

For starters, if you want to run this, use this setup:

Sword: 12+1+1
Strength: 11+1
Death Magic: 6

No, your Virulence won't last as long, but you'll have better armor penetration and your IMS will last longer.

Skills:

Frenzy/Flurry
Sprint/Rush
Bull's Strike
Sever Artery
Gash
Virulence [e]
Plague Touch/3rd Attack
Rez Sig

My only suggestion is to use Sever Artery and Gash to apply the Conditions, use Bull's Strike on kiting targets, and when they attempt to run away from you *THEN* use Virulence. This will help to keep the Disease off of you and your Allies, and will serve to do the job that you wanted to do in the first place. For the 3rd attack either Galrath Slash, Power Attack, or Final Thrust. Watch energy usage if you go for Power Attack, make sure that you are going to tag them @ under 50% if you use Final Thrust.

[headbutt]+[Plague touch] combo is pretty strong imo.

Virulence isn't a great skill to begin with, and sacrificing a lot of points into death just for that one elite isn't such a great idea either. If you really want to try out condition degen, try out the Ranger's [Burning Arrow] + [Apply Poison], which, sadly enough, requires you to go into Nightfall.

If you really wish to stay as a W/N, there's still a decent axe build around that's quite powerful itself, but lacks the powerful shock.

You could run something like this using axe:

Axe Mastery: 12+1+1
Strength: 12+1
Curses: 3

[Eviscerate][Executioner's Strike][Disrupting Chop][Plague Touch][Bull's Strike][Frenzy][Rush][Resurrection Signet]

This way, you'll be able to dish out great burst damage with Eviscerate and Executioner's Strike, while still being able to get rid of conditions like blind and weakness.

Just a follow up, use minor runes because a superior is wasteful. Especially in PvP, the difference between a minor rune and a superior rune may be only +6 damage, would you sacrifice 75 health for 6 more damage? Yes every point of damage counts, but that counts against you too. If you have 75 less health, I'd imagine you'd be at around the 400s-500s range. Nowadays, spikes ignore armor and hit over 500 and I'd easily save 6 damage for safety.

And as for the IAS with Frenzy. Just remember to cancel stance with Rush. This way whenever you are receiving too much damage from Frenzy, you can just switch over to Rush and it'll cancel out.

Thanks everyone,

Maybe il go back to shock, just about every second warrior i come up against uses it. This is why i hate using shock as its always predictable when fighting a warrior what their next moves going to be.

Axe - 14
Strength - 13
Air - 3

Eviscate
Body blow or Ex Strike
Disrupting blow
Shock
Bulls strike
Frenzy
Rush

otherwise i'l replace shock for plague touch...
ALSO: im using this for PVP.

Well just encase you don't know, Rush is also good for getting autocrits on kiting targets aswell as canceling Frenzy. Make sure you get heavy use out of both skills, because you'll need it. Oh, and place your Bull's Strikes at the right time if your enemy is more unpredictable, it could be hard to BStrike some people.
